American company Wrigley to set up an R&D center in Sabadell (Barcelona)

American chewing gum company Wrigley plans to set up a center for the development of new products in Sabadell (Barcelona).

The company, which in 2004 acquired Catalan business Joyco, has registered an important growth in the Spanish market, with revenue of 209 million euros in 2007. Wrigley's success in Spain is due in part to the launching of new varieties of consolidated brands, such as Solano candies or Orbit chewing gum.

Valentin Ramirez, Wrigley's general manager for the Iberian Peninsula, indicated that "Spain has become one of the key markets for Wrigley and it holds with a very important position at international level."
