The Catalan capital has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art cruise ship terminal at Barcelona's Port, with capacity to serve cruise ships with up to 6,000 passengers. The 15 million euro project was promoted by the Barcelona Cruise Association, making the Catalan capital the only European city with such modern facilities, comparable only to those found in Florida, USA.

The new terminal offers 8,300 square meters, 44 check-in counters, information monitors, a shopping area and a bar. More than 1.7 million cruise passengers passed through the Barcelona facilities in 2007, a figure that could reach 2 million this year.
