Applus+ to carry out structural testing for the new Airbus A350

Certification and technology services company Applus+ will be responsible for carrying out structural testing of the future Airbus A350 XWB, expected to hit the market in 2012. Applus+ will conduct a series of tests in order to validate the structural integrity of the new aircraft, the first of its kind to be built with about 50% of composites materials. A dozen of Applus+ engineers are to work exclusively in aviation projects.

"The airline industry is one of the key elements for the future growth of our company," CEO Joaquim Coello said. The new strategic program plans to double the size of the company over the next three years, to be one of the five leading players in the aeronautical sector.
