Relevant Events

The Barcelona Port Authority posted a 7.2% increase in freight traffic during the first half of 2008, four points higher than the average of the 46 facilities managed by the Ministry of Public Works. Between January and June 2008, the Catalan port moved 26.9 million tons, ranking third in Spain behind the ports of Algeciras (38.3) and Valencia (28.5).

The 46 Spanish ports recorded a total of 242.3 million tons during the first six months of 2008, a 3.06% increase compared to the same period a year earlier. In Catalonia, the Port of Tarragona registered an activity of 17.5 million tons during the first half of 2008.
