Siemens to use Catalonia as a platform for growth in SpainGerman multinational company Siemens wishes to use Catalonia as a platform for higher growth in Spain in the next two years, Siemens Spain CEO Francisco Belil said. The company, which expects a 10% increase in its Spanish business, had revenue of 220 million euros in Catalonia and some 400 employees.
One of Siemens leading activities in Catalonia is based in Cornellà, where the multinational company has a plant producing train engines. Mr. Belil insisted that Siemens has a strong presence in several sectors in Spain such as technology for early detection of diseases, energy generation and public infrastructure, mainly in the business of high-speed trains.
