Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer, organized in Barcelona its "Nokia World," the company's most important marketing event. The Finnish firm also presented its new strategy and future developments for 2009.

The Barcelona meeting brought together over 2,000 attendees, including journalists, bloggers, software developers, analysts and investors who participated in two days of technology-related activities. Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvo also presented the company's new flagship product: the N97 smartphone. Sari Lönnqvist, Nokia's head of communications, said that "Nokia World and the World Mobile Congress (which also takes place in the Catalan capital) are the two most important events of the year for the company."

Ms. Lönnqvist said that Barcelona has a good chance to host the Nokia World event next year. "It's my favorite city in Europe. It offers lots of things to organize this type of events: a wide range of hotel facilities, good transport and entertainment options," she said.
