Catalan Government to invest about 200 million euros in research

The Catalan Government is to spend some 177 million euros to extend contracts with 10 research centers operating in Catalonia. This year's funds will increase 11.5% and are part of the Catalan initiative to strengthen the public scientific research, as stipulated in the National Plan for Research and Innovation signed last October.

Centers expected to receive funding include the Center of Genomic Regulation, with 58.7 million euros, the Catalan Institute of Chemical Research with 30.4 million euros, and the Institute of Biomedical Research August Pi i Sunyer with 25.1 million euros.
