Japanese multinational Yamaha will start production of three new models of motorcycles at its Palau-solità i Plegamans plant, Catalan Industry Minister Josep Huguet confirmed from Tokyo. The company is thus keeping its commitment to launch a new motorcycle per year over the next three years, Yamaha Spain president Jorge Lasheras said. Yamaha has 300 workers in Catalonia and will end 2008 with a production close to 80,000 units.

In related news, Honda confirmed that it is to operate normally in Catalonia, according to sources from the Japanese conglomerate. Honda has a work force of 400 people in Catalonia and manufactures about 50,000 units at its plant in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda.
