The Catalan Government plans to invest 35 million Euros throughout 2022 in the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the facility housing Mare Nostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world. The resources will go towards the construction of new facilities next to the current ones, near Plaza Eusebi Güell in Barcelona's Pedralbes district.
The center, created in 2005 by the Catalan Government, the Spanish Ministry of Education and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, has 200 employees from 23 countries and is one of the leading computing centers in the world.
